Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Mini-MBA compare to an MBA?

The Ascot Mini-MBA is not a degree or an accredited qualification, and there are no formal exams or assessments.  It costs a small fraction of the money, and involves a fraction of the commitment in terms of study time.  However, the Mini-MBA still equips students with the tools, techniques and vocabulary of an MBA graduate.

Do I have to wait for the start of the Academic Year?

No, you can start the Ascot Mini-MBA at any time.  Your Modules will be sent out to you at regular monthly intervals, regardless of when you sign up.  If you would like to receive your Modules at the beginning of each month, there is an opportunity to state this on the Enrolment Form available here.

If I enrol one of my employees on the Mini-MBA, will I receive any feedback on his or her performance?

The Enrolment Form allows you to specify that the student’s course fees are being paid for by his or her employer, and to request our feedback at the end of the course.  You can also specify that the student should complete an assignment for each Module, and we will report back on that too.

Is Ascot Business Training affiliated to any University?

No, we are an independent company specialising in business training.  We do not pretend to perform the same function as a University Business School, but we do aim to provide our students with many of the same tools.

What kind of tutor will I have?

Though all now based in the UK, our tutors have experience of teaching, consulting and managing in more than a dozen countries, and their minimum level of academic achievement is a University MBA.

When a student comes to us after a personal recommendation, the recommendation often specifies a particular tutor.  In these cases, we do our best to assign the new student to the tutor of his or her choice.

What if more of us want to enrol?

If the word is spreading around your workplace, don't worry, more people can always enrol.  There is a substantial reduction in fees when we have several students concurrently at the same organisation.

If requested, we can re-schedule a current student’s course to synchronise with colleagues who sign up after he or she has already started.  Simply state this on the Enrolment Form available by clicking
here.

Do you hold any face-to-face Tutorials?

All our tutoring is conducted by email.  This is partly because our students are spread around the world, but also it helps to keep our costs down, which in turn enables us to maintain the Mini-MBA at an affordable level for individuals and businesses of all sizes.

I've tried the free sample of Module 1, but how do I know the rest of the course is of the same quality?

If at any point you decide you don’t want to continue with the programme, simply return the last Module we sent you, and you will immediately receive a full refund for that Module, and for any Modules not yet despatched.

Why can’t you spell ‘program’ correctly?

Ascot Business Training is based in the village of Ascot (where Royal Ascot takes place), in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.  The Royal Borough sits in the Royal County of Berkshire.  So we use the Queen’s English, and we stick to British spellings.

But if you’re in another part of the world, you can rest assured that many of our students are based overseas, and the Ascot Mini-MBA is designed to reflect the content of international MBA programmes, not just British ones.

To give two examples....

Our Module on Finance, Accounting and Risk does not go deeply into British accounting practices, as UK MBA syllabuses do.  Also, we include a Module on Leadership and Power, which is common practice on American MBA courses, but much less common in Britain.
